Apple has just announced a new version of the iPhone 3GS. The “S” apparently stands for “Speed,” with Apple indicating that the new device is “the fastest, most powerful iPhone yet.”
The announcement came at today’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference, where Apple has announced a slew of updates, including the ability to purchase and rent movies via your iPhone and the impending launch of version 3.0 of the iPhone OS, which will be available on June 17th.

The new iPhone 3.0 OS release will include new support for direct downloads of movie and TV content from the iTunes Store, reports Apple Insider. Apple  has recently briefed and distributed training materials on how to use the new features.

O2  is believed to beaten off competition from Orange and Vodafone to exclusive distribute Palm Pre in the UK and it’s a new rival to iPhone.
